On 21 March 2023, at 10.00 a.m. at Millennium Grand Hotel, Newton Hall, a round table was held on the topic “BIOEAST Initiative – an engine for the advancement of the bioeconomy of Bulgaria”, organised by the Bulgarian Agricultural Academy. The coordinator of the team from the Executive Forest Agency under the project CEE2ACT took part in the round table. The government’s BIOEAST Initiative, which includes 11 countries from Central and Eastern Europe, was established in 2016 to support the regional development of a knowledge-based bioeconomy. Under the auspices of the Initiative and with the participation of a team from the Agricultural Academy, the project “Advancing Sustainable Circular Bioeconomy in Central and Eastern European countries BIOEASTsUP”, funded under the Horizon 2020 programme, was implemented. Within the framework of the project, a team from Agricultural Academy has developed a Strategic Programme for Research and Innovation, based on the priorities in the field of bioeconomy of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, a Concept for the Development of the Prospective Sectors of the Bioeconomy and also a Draft Strategy for the Development of the Bioeconomy in Bulgaria. During his participation in the round table, Dr. Trichkov explained to the participants the mandatory terms and conditions for the development of a national strategic document and answered questions raised.
Experts from the Executive Forest Agency took part in the XXV International Scientific Conference on Management and Sustainable Development at the University of Forestry, held in the period from 24.3.2023 to 26.3.2023. During the conference, the representatives of EFA - part of the team for management and implementation of the CEE2ACT project made a presentation on the topic “Opportunities and measures for the preparation of national strategy for bioeconomy in Bulgaria”.
Participation in both events is part of the concept of bioeconomy development in Bulgaria and part of the necessary steps of EFA as partner in a Consortium of 17 countries for the implementation of Work packages 5 and 7 under the CEE2ACT project.
